Other Info
An hierloom of the Makino Family in Kasama, this katana is the 62 treasured sword, passing the Juyo Token (NBTHK designated important sword) on October 18, 2016 and the Tokubetsu Juyo Token (Special important sword) on May 2, 2018. This swordsmith, Jitsua, was active during the end of the Kamakura Period and was the son of Sairen Kuniyoshi and the father of Osamonji. A singed blade by this swordsmith is very rare. The Katana has kitae and visible O-itama pattern, larger grain pattern, as well as resembling Ayasugi. The Hamon is Suguha with slightly faint Urumigokoro. Overall, this Katana holds the features of the classic Kyushu Tradition.
